Watchmaker's bench

OUR WORKSHOP

A small workshop where the work gets the attention it deserves.

WHO WE ARE

Brasswind — watches handled with patience.

Brasswind started in Damansara Utama with one watchmaker and a simple idea: that the people who bring their watches in should leave knowing exactly what was done to them, and why. That's still the centre of how we work.

Over the years we've settled into three distinct services — a gentle upkeep visit for everyday quartz pieces, a proper workshop service for mechanical movements, and a considered restoration process for older or sentimental watches. Each is scoped to a different kind of need and carried out at a pace that suits the piece.

We're based in Petaling Jaya and work entirely from our workshop here. We don't subcontract and we don't rush. If a job needs two weeks, it takes two weeks. If a part needs sourcing from overseas, we'll source it properly and keep you informed.

OUR MISSION

Straightforward service. Honest pricing. No loose ends.

Transparency

We assess every piece before quoting and explain what it needs in plain terms. You choose whether to proceed.

Craft

Watchmaking requires patience and the right tools. We don't cut corners because a job runs longer than expected.

Accountability

Every service closes with written documentation of what was done. Your watch comes back with a record, not just a receipt.

THE TEAM

The people behind the bench.

A small team, each focused on what they do. No rotating staff — when you drop a watch off, you know who will be working on it.

RH

Razif Hamdan

HEAD WATCHMAKER

Razif has been servicing mechanical movements for over eighteen years, with particular experience in mid-century automatic calibres and heritage restoration work.

NZ

Nurin Zahra

QUARTZ SPECIALIST & CLIENT LIAISON

Nurin manages quartz servicing and all client communication. She ensures every person who walks in understands the process before they decide anything.

CK

Chen Kai

CASE & DIAL TECHNICIAN

Chen Kai handles case finishing, dial assessment, and bracelet work. He approaches refinishing conservatively — preserving character over making a watch look new.

HOW WE WORK

Standards we hold ourselves to.

These aren't policies we've written for a website — they're the way the workshop has operated since we opened.

Condition assessed before quoting

We look at the watch before we give a price. No estimate over the phone without seeing the piece — that's how surprises get avoided.

Intake photography on every job

Every watch is photographed at the point of drop-off. This protects both parties and gives us a baseline for the work record.

Timing and regulation testing

Mechanical movements are tested on a timing machine before and after service. Results are included in the condition report.

Lubricants appropriate to each calibre

Different movements require different lubricants. We don't use a universal oil — we select based on the calibre's specifications and the age of the movement.

Secure storage during the service period

Watches in our care are kept in a secured workshop space. Access is limited to the technician handling the piece.

Written service record on completion

Every job closes with a document describing what was found, what was done, and what — if anything — should be watched for in future.

OUR APPROACH

Watch repair that respects the object.

A watch that's been worn daily for ten years carries something more than mechanical function. It marks time in a personal way. When we take one in for service, we keep that in mind — our job is to maintain it, not to make it look like it just left a shop floor.

For mechanical and heritage pieces this is especially important. The patina on a case, the texture of an aged dial — these aren't flaws to be corrected. Part of our role is understanding when to leave things as they are and when intervention is genuinely needed.

We serve owners across the Klang Valley: collectors maintaining a rotation, families preserving a grandparent's timepiece, and everyday wearers who simply want their watch running reliably. The service level differs but the standard of care doesn't.

If you're not sure which of our services fits what your watch needs, bring it in. We'll have a look, tell you honestly what the options are, and let you decide from there with no pressure either way.

READY TO BEGIN?

Bring your watch in for an assessment.

Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. If you'd prefer to discuss your piece first, call or send an email and we'll arrange a time that works.
